Chiari I malformation
A Chiari I malformation. The cerebellar tonsils are descended below the foramen magnum. The tips of the tonsils are rounded and end above the level of C1.
-
Chiari I malformation
While the amount of descent is limited, the anatomy of the cranio-cervical junction is small and leads to marked crowding at the foramen magnum. The medulla is elongated and a cervico-medullary kink is developing below the tips of the tonsils.
-
Chiari I malformation
The tonsils in this Chiari I malformation are pegged and descend below the arch of C1.
-
Chiari I malformation
Crowded cerebellar tonsils are leading to marked elongation of the medulla.
-
Chiari I malformation
The medulla is elongated in this Chiari I malformation and a cervicomedullary kink is present just below the tonsils.
-
Chiari I malformation
The medulla is elongated and distorted in this CM-I and a cervico-medullary kink is present.
-
Chiari I malformation
The medulla is elongated and also compressed anteriorly against the odontoid process. A prominent cervico-medullary kink is present.
